North Forest pride week Nov. 9-15

    From a press release:

North Forest ISD has a series of events scheduled for its annual Pride Week celebration, which will take place in November and includes an essay writing contest for fourth, seventh and 10th grade students. In classrooms across the District, students will write essays on the theme "Why North Forest ISD is Where I Want to Be."
Pride Week organizer and NFISD Fine Arts Coordinator Toni Dunn says the annual event is held to strengthen the bond between NFISD and the community it serves, to increase parental involvement, develop a sense of pride among NFISD students and to motivate students to achieve academically. All NFISD employees, parents, students and the entire North Forest community are invited to take part in Pride Week.

On Tuesday, Nov. 10, Pride Week will go into overdrive with the annual Band Extravaganza. Tickets for this event are $5 for students and $7 for adults in advance. Tickets can be purchased in advance on any NFISD campus. All tickets purchased at the gate are $10. The band extravaganza will be held at 6:30 p.m. at Jones Cowart Stadium.
Wednesday, Nov. 11 will be Student Exchange Day. Students from the elementary and middle school campuses will be chosen to visit a sister campus and will be paired with a student that will serve as their guide. Students from Fonwood will visit W.E. Rogers and vice versa. Shadydale and A.G. Hilliard will exchange students on this day. Forest Brook and B.C. Elmore will exchange students; and Pre-K and kindergarten students from Lakewood and Thurgood Marshall will take part in exchange day by visiting the other campus.
As always, the week will culminate with the annual Pride Week Parade on Saturday, Nov. 14. The parade begins at 9 a.m. and will start at Homestead and Tidwell and end at the NFISD Central Administration Building at Little York and Homestead.
