Area has five schools on TEA's "worst school list"

The education blog of the Chronicle, "School Zone," reported that the Texas Education Agency released a list today of the worst-performing schools in the state. Of the Greater Houston-area schools that showed up on the list, five were in the Aldine/North Houston area.

    From the blog:

The Texas Education Agency released a list today of the worst-performing schools in the state. These are the campuses where 50 percent or more of the students failed TAKS in any two of the last three years or were rated "academically unacceptable" in 2007, 2008 or 2009.

The list of schools in the area:

    Houston ISD:
    Dogan Elementary
    Kashmere High School

    Aldine ISD:
    Eisenhower Ninth Grade School

    North Forest ISD:
    Hilliard Elementary
    North Forest High School
