From a press release:
The Indian Grill restaurant opened last month on Greens Road near I-45. The restaurant offers hungry diners authentic Indian food in a relaxed environment.
Customers are flocking to the restaurant’s all-you-can-eat lunch buffet.
“We already have some loyal customers,” said Indian Grill Manager E. Kannan. “We have people who are coming two and three times a week.”
The Indian Grill serves lunch and dinner and caters large and small events. Menu items range from the popular chicken tikka masala and saag paneer to more unusual items like marinated and charbroiled white pomfret.
Kannan said some who come to the restaurant aren’t familiar with Indian food. He is always willing to explain the ingredients or offer recommendations, sometimes directing newcomers to the less spicy options, he said.
Lunch is served between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. The restaurant reopens at 5 p.m. for dinner. Patrons of the lunch buffet can choose from about 15 items. The buffet changes daily and usually features five meat and ten vegetarian dishes.
Kannan, who grew up in India and attended the Indian Culinary Institute, prides himself on using the freshest ingredients, never frozen meat or vegetables.
During lunch, piping hot naan, a popular South Asian bread, is brought to the table by friendly wait staff. Kannan said the naan is baked in a clay pot for each customer, so it’s always fresh.
“It can’t sit around for 30 minutes,” he said. “I wouldn’t eat that and neither should my customers.”
The Indian Grill is located at 185 Greens Road, Houston, Texas 77060. Tel: (281) 781-8718.
