North Forest ISD and Houston Community College will host a celebration of higher education in the North Forest community at the North Forest College Day Registration Fest, which will be held from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010 at Forest Brook Middle School, 7525 Tidwell Road.

Parents, students and residents will learn more about HCC programs and can receive registration and financial aid assistance. There will be food, fun and student performances.

This celebration comes just in time as Houston Community College expands its dual credit course offerings for North Forest ISD students and prepares to offer Spring 2010 classes to North Forest residents at reduced tuition rates. Evening and weekend classes will be offered in the North Forest community beginning Jan. 19. The courses will be offered at Forest Brook Middle School.

To pave the way for the course offerings in North Forest, the NFISD Board of Managers approved a measure to allow the district to negotiate a contract with HCC for the use of NFISD facilities at its December meeting.

North Forest residents can register for classes on any HCC campus and at Forest Brook Middle School at 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Jan. 11-15.
