From a North Forest ISD press release:
North Forest ISD’s January Parent Volunteer of the Month is Ms. Cynthia Bankston, a parent volunteer and President of the PTA at Lakewood Elementary School.
“As the president of our PTA, she has taken on a monumental task,” says Lakewood Principal Jerrell Purvis. “She has organized her executive team and prepared for an exemplary year of service to our school. Her goals and vision are aligned with the school campus plan and she has demonstrated that in meetings, public appearances, and initiatives at school.”
Ms. Bankston was nominated for the honor along with parent volunteers from campuses across North Forest ISD. All of the nominees were recognized at the NFISD Board of Managers meeting on Jan. 19, where Ms. Bankston was named as the district-wide Parent Volunteer of the Month.
The Lakewood PTA is small in numbers, but has contributed on a large scale to the success of Lakewood students, Mr. Purvis, says, adding that Ms. Bankston has energized other Lakewood parents.
Ms. Bankston is a loyal and devoted parent. She has represented Lakewood at several functions and completed several initiatives on campus. One of her most successful initiatives was a Christmas giveaway of gifts to every student at Lakewood.
