Chamber of Commerce changes its name

Taken from the Chamber's Web site:

The North Houston-Greenspoint Chamber of Commerce announces name change to Houston Intercontinental Chamber of Commerce.

The new name will better represent our area in a city that is a leader in our global economy and a membership which requires an elevated level of service.

The North Houston-Greenspoint Chamber of Commerce was originally established in 1986 and has continuously evolved over time to meet the needs of the community and its membership. Due to our close proximity to Bush Intercontinental Airport and our growing membership of both national and international companies, the Board of Directors voted to change the name of the Chamber from North Houston-Greenspoint Chamber of Commerce to Houston Intercontinental Chamber of Commerce.

The Chamber entered into a partnership with Lone Star College System – North Harris in May 2008, and moved offices to the LSCS – Greenspoint Center, located at 250 N. Sam Houston Pkwy East, Suite 200, Houston, Texas 77060. The new facilities have enabled the Chamber to provide services unlike any Chamber in the Houston area. The Chamber has on-site training and meeting facilities, conference rooms, a business incubator, a SBDC/SBA office, and a newly formed economic development council -- all located within the Chamber suite.

We have established relationships with federal agencies, local and federal legislators, and multi-national representatives and feel this name change will represent and carry us into the future of the organization. The facilities, services and events we now offer allow us to better assist our members with the challenge they face in today’s competitive global markets.

A new logo will be unveiled at a press conference to be held on Thursday, February 4, 2010, 11:30am, at the Hilton Hotel North, located at 12400 Greenspoint Drive, Houston, Texas 77060, during the Chamber’s 4th Annual International Business Economic Forum. All members who would like to design and submit a logo to represent the new name may do so by email to rgray@nhgcc.org, by noon on Tuesday, January 19, 2010. The logos submitted will be voted upon by the Board and a new logo will be selected from the community.

Thank you for your continued support and I look forward to an exciting year ahead as this Chamber continues to grow.

    Regards, Reggie Gray, President
