An investigation of HISD's Key Middle School found evidence of cheating on state exams, nepotism involving the former principal's relatives, missing laptops, and staff-led fundraisers that allegedly made profits off students.

“Simply put, thousands of dollars generated from the students at Key, who are primarily from low-income families, cannot be accounted for,” according to the two-inch thick investigative report prepared for the Houston Independent School District.
