NFISD to hold district science fair May 22

From a North Forest ISD press release:

North Forest ISD will hold its annual district-wide science fair from 8 a.m. until noon on Saturday, May 22, 2010, at North Forest High School, 10725 Mesa Road, in the commons area.

Hundreds of elementary, middle and high school students across the district have submitted projects to their campus fairs, where top winners were chosen to take part in the district wide fair.

Ms. Helen Sheppard, NFISD Instructional Coordinator for K-12 Science, said about 250 students will have projects at the district-wide fair, adding that she is excited by the level of participation from students.

“The science fair lets students explore their personal interests to choose a project, and they utilize the scientific method to answer a question,” Ms. Sheppard said. “It’s the ideal hands-on learning experience.”

Projects have been submitted in all areas of science, including physics, biology, chemistry, life science, earth science and others.
