From a North Forest ISD press release:

A number of North Forest ISD students will get the upcoming school year off to an early start when the YES Prep North Forest Summer Session begins on Monday, July 12.

YES Prep Public Schools and North Forest Independent School District have partnered together to open a new YES Prep school for rising 6th and 9th grade students of North Forest ISD in the 2010-2011 school year.

Although YES Prep North Forest will be a part of North Forest ISD, it will follow the model of all YES Prep Public Schools which includes Extended School Day and Extended School Year programs. YES stands for Youth Engaged in Service and the YES Prep mission is to prepare students to compete academically in college as well as be an advocate in their communities. The school will be located on the former Kirby Middle School campus and will open in the 2010- 2011 school year.

YES Prep North Forest will be a college prep school with a focus on developing leadership skills in students. YES Prep Public Schools is a free, open-enrollment public school system in the Houston area. It combines a highly successful 6th-12th grade model along with high standards for student achievement.
