Madelyn Zimmerlee and Yulissa Nava, both students at Reed Academy in Aldine ISD, have been selected to travel to the Austin area as a participants in Education in Action's Lone Star Leadership Academy, July 19-23.

Cristela Flores, a "legend" at Aldine Independent School district, is retiring after 49 years as a teacher. Flores has been working at Keeble EC/PK since it opened in 1997.

The National Campaign to Stop Violence will honor four student finalists from North Forest ISD for their participation in the Houston/Harris County “Do the Write Thing” Texas Challenge, an academic and anti-violence program for middle school students.

Aldine ISD’s Hambrick Middle School and Stephens Elementary School have been named 2010 National Excellence in Urban Education Award winners from San Diego State’s University’s National Center for Urban School Transformation.

Acres Home native Je’Caryous Johnson found out about the theater while attending Nimitz High School and he never looked back. Now his company, I'm Read Productions, is growing in leaps and bounds with acting classes, movies and plays adapted from novels.
