Acres Home native Je’Caryous Johnson found out about the theater while attending Nimitz High School and he never looked back. Now his company, I'm Read Productions, is growing in leaps and bounds with acting classes, movies and plays adapted from novels.

North Forest ISD has named Cynthia Bankston the January Parent Volunteer of the Month. Bankston is a parent volunteer and President of the PTA at Lakewood Elementary School.

North Forest ISD has named Betty Rasmus their January Employee of the Month. Rasmus is an eighth grade English Language Arts teacher at Forest Brook Middle School.

Jennifer Weikel and Ashlee Palermo, 2008 graduates of Nimitz High School, were recently honored as the only two Houston area FFA members to receive the National FFA American Farmer Degree.
