North Forest ISD administrators held a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the W. G. Smiley Career & Technology Center to open a vegetable garden will provide the North Forest High School 4-H Club a chance to grow and maintain a vegetable garden.

Aldine ISD's Keeble EC/PK Center held its annual International Parade on Jan 21. All of the classrooms at the school participated in making costumes and banners and small floats representing different countries.

Boost Mobile opened up two new retail stores last week, including one on Northwest Freeway, and the Rockets' Trevor Ariza was on hand to sign basketballs and accept a $5,000 donation to his charity.

Members of the MacArthur Sr. High Math Club and their sponsor, Mark Hockman, with their winning entry in the annual Christmas Tree Decorating Contest. The contest is a project of MacArthur's Texas Association of Future Educators in which various school clubs compete to prepare beautiful trees for needy families. Band, Future Farmers of America and Kutach Krew were also winners in other categories.

The Houston Arts Alliance is dedicating two new art pieces in the area this month. Koryn Rolstad’s Sheltering Growth will be dedicated on Thursday, Nov. 5 at the Northeast Multi-Service Center and Tim Glover’s Community Tree will be dedicated on Tuesday, Nov. 24 at the Acres Homes Community Center.
