According to a Chronicle story written by Ericka Mellon, the Houston school district has asked the Texas Education Agency to investigate possible cheating on standardized exams at Key Middle School, a state spokeswoman confirmed this afternoon.

The education blog of the Chronicle, "School Zone," reported that the Texas Education Agency released a list today of the worst-performing schools in the state. Of the Greater Houston-area schools that showed up on the list, five were in the Aldine/North Houston area.

Friendswood put a quick end to Waltrip's resurrected season Saturday night, with a 46-2 beatdown of the Rams. Waltrip only found out they were back in the playoffs Thursday, after Wheatley High School was disqualified for using an ineligible player. DeChaumes Elementary was one of five HISD schools to be selected as a regional winner of the Cool Globes: Hot Ideas for a Cooler Planet Science Project. Last week, Cool Globes Education Sponsor H-E-B presented the science class with $1,000 to be used to implement the fifth grade class’ environmental projects.
