According to a Chronicle story written by Ericka Mellon, the Houston school district has asked the Texas Education Agency to investigate possible cheating on standardized exams at Key Middle School, a state spokeswoman confirmed this afternoon.

Agency officials will launch a formal investigation — which could include interviews with employees and an analysis of test score data — once the Houston Independent School District submits a written report, said TEA spokeswoman Debbie Ratcliffe.
The former principal of Key, Mable Caleb, became principal of Kashmere High School this academic year.
Caleb was embroiled in a cheating scandal at Key in 2005. At that time, former HISD Superintendent Abelardo Saavedra demoted Caleb after a four-month district investigation found evidence of cheating on the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills. But the school board, on a 4-3 vote, overturned Saavedra's decision and gave Caleb back her job.
